Your outlook on things is fantastic, I especially like your emphasis on maturity and your references to the kinds of people we meet in real life and in game but...

I might only speak for myself here so flame away if necessary...

I don't play games to get stressed out more or handle more politics than my already hectic life.

I come here to gather my thoughts and hang out with fellows like you who see the world through the eyes of grace and reason, I come here to be a different version of me in a different world to the one I already live in.
In this new world, even as a 33 year old, I make vroom vroom noises and fly cooool spaceships around (ha ha).

What the mod creators have done here with this RP server, is amazing.
Reading these forums (mostly) makes me realize that there are some really good people out there, and hanging with them in play is fantastic.

I too dislike flaming, griping, nagging and moaning and there certainly are threads where this goes too far but I certainly think that we should (maturely) protect what we have here!

The difference between this game and real life is that if someone walks into my office and throws coffee in my lap or insults me, I have the power to do something about it!
In this mod, one selfish person can remove you from the server for 4 hours... and your only route to making sure it does not happen to you or anyone else again is to report it to an admin.

I wish with all my heart that the expression 'it's just a game' were true, but it's not. The moment you add another human being to the equation it becomes much more than 'just a game', it becomes human interaction.

And being that, it needs parameters of safety and a safe place for people to voice their concerns without fear of retribution or teasing etc.

My point is: I agree with you and honor your fantastic grace but I think we should listen very intently to the gripes of those the server was made for (RP) and then try to make them feel heard, not immature and foolish for speaking their minds.

If this game is seriously not a place for escape and entertainment, then I apologise for my ignorance.


Again, I am blown away by your post, I really honor you for your wisdom, I just felt that I needed to say these things.
