This pisses me off the most, because while it is totally in-rp, it is also clear that the pirate just wants a blue message and ruin the player's fun
I tried rp-ing an empty (cargoless) broke (poor) damaged (on fire) freighter once, didn't work out so well because pirates kept lolkilling me
Oh come on, you'd have to spill a pretty good story about how you're on your way to pick up your first shipment of cargo EVER to get away with that. Is not keeping your life enough (inrp) motivation to pay a pirate? Having cargo does mean a transport is more likely to pay since he has more to lose at that time, however if a trader is like 'i'm empty so not paying' or 'i'm empty so go ahead and kill me its cheaper' then that should almost be sancitonable, not exactly inrp. Inrp you'd worry about having your ship blasted either way. Also, you'd have some money, regardless of whether you're full at the time or not.
Oh and if you don't know well enough to keep credits on your ship or to use the /drawcash command from a ship you do have credits on, you are just a liable to be destroyed. I've seen the defense ' I don't have credits on this ship' and if a pirate wants to accept that, fine, I wouldn't though. Around that time I start to suspect they're calling for help and give them a fixed time period to pay or indicate they will pay, lest they be blasted to high heavens. Reasonably though, demands upon empty cargo ships should be lower than full loads. So maybe not 10 mil, but 2-3 is not unreasonable.
