Also even Kalashnikov admitted it few years ago. Same story with many many others american and russian "inventors" that used german war captive scientists and forced/paid (Russia/USA) them to work for them.
The mechanics of the StG 44 and the mechanics of the AK are so incredibly different. The StG uses a gas-operated piston-delayed roller-lock mechanism. The AK uses a gas-operated long-stroke-piston rotating-bolt mechanism.
They merely look visually similar at best. The design is similar because it's a simple, working design.
For an example of a gun that was actually outright stolen from the Germans, early prototypes of the M60 machine gun ('murica) were literally composed of MG42 and FG42 parts.
