The Life and Story of a Liberty Navy Fighter Pilot

Though I was born a simple citizen of Liberty, my story is far from 'run-of-the-mill'. From loss to success, from honor to betrayal, I, Henry Dawson, have indeed been through what would be called legend by any simple child, but for me..... well, it was just life.

Beginnings

Date: February 25th, 803 A.S. 10:06 PM
Location: Wright-Patterson Memorial Hospital, Bronco City, Planet Denver, Colorado System

Born to Mike and Sarah Dawson, Henry was the firstborn of the happy couple. With Mike being a full time employee of Ageira Technologies, Sarah, being an LPI detective, had to take time off of several granting Police operations, including drug busts, and several high atmospheric chases, to raise little Henry. After two years, Mike and Sarah had another child, a daughter, that they named Melissa.

The Raid of the Casanova

5 years after his birth, Henry, along with his sister Melissa and mom Sarah, who found time off of work, went to a space race hosted by the Liberty Navy to commemorate fallen pilots and soldiers, near the Battleship Rio Grande. Aboard a luxury liner acquired for the race, Henry and his sister both sat near a window allowing them to see all the racers line up. Among the racers was renowned Bretonian space racer Dexter Hovis, Californian racer Kelly Hartford, Liberty Navy Commander Yuki Okamoto, and their own father.

As the race commenced, Henry and Melissa cheered, along with everyone else. About 10 minutes in, their mother rejoined them, and added on to their cheering. After another 4 minutes, an unexpected event too hold. As he was rounding a corner, Navy Major John Felix was struck by the ship of an unknown Outcast saboteur, causing Felix to spiral out of control and fly into the rock hard surface of nearby Planet Gunnison.

As Felix collides with the surface of Gunnison, 13 more Outcast fighters, along with an Outcast cruiser, breach the security zone of the Rio Grande, taking everyone completely by surprise. As all the activity outside is heating up, disguised Outcast members take control of the liner from within. With Outcasts taking hostages left and right, Henry, his mom, and his sister are all rounded up.

"You're a detriment to humanity!" yelled one extremely agitated passenger.

"Really now?" calmly said the lead Outcast, as he confidently points his pistol at the man, "We'll see how detrimental I am when you're dead!"

As the Outcast begins to pull the trigger of his pistol, a smoke grenade explodes, as the ship's security begins incapacitating the Outcasts.

Sarah pulls her pistol from her jacket sleeve, and begins popping slugs into several Outcast members. She fires a total of 17 slugs until she is hit in the chest by a shot from the Outcast ringleader.

As she falls over, clenching her wound, Henry runs to her, trying not to believe the sight. An Outcast walks to Henry and points his pistol at him, conveying words to Henry that he can't even fathom. With her last bit of strength, Sarah points her gun at the Outcast, and without hesitation, pulls the trigger one last time, blasting him back several feet. Sarah, having saved her son from the jaws of death, passes away, forever mourned by her son, who continuously disbelieves his mother's passing.

"No! No, no, no!!! It's not fair!!" said Henry, as he buries his head in her jacket.

After destroying the last Outcast fighter, Mike lands aboard the luxury liner, and is relayed the disheartening news. As he reunites with his son and daughter, they all hug each other, in mourning of her.

The Naval Roots

After 7 more years, Henry, now twelve years of age, was given a pilots license by his father, as well as a Series CX "Scimitar" Light Fighter. Melissa is also given a pilots license, and is given a CTE-4000 "Griffin" Light Fighter. After another 2 years, Henry, his piloting skills honed far past that of his father, signs up for the Navy Junior Recruit System, which allows civilians from ages 12-17 the opportunity to join the Liberty Navy full time. Henry and Melissa both accept, and are soon granted Navy fighters to suit their own specialties, with Henry receiving a BDR-845 "Avenger" VHF, due to his 'run n' gun' attitude, and Melissa receiving an LZF-9805 "Liberator" Light Fighter, who prefers to keep the upper hand.

After their induction into the navy, Melissa begins flying for Gamma Squadron stationed out of the Battleship Yukon, whilst Henry is inducted into Beta Squadron, stationed out of the Battleship Concord.

End it All

Henry, now age 14, flies alongside his father as they patrol the area just east of Planet Kurile, in Sigma-17. Having been given leave by the Navy to help his father with Ageira work, Henry follows his father as they enter formation with a convoy headed for Freeport 9, one system away.

Henry looks in confusion as the ships near a jump hole. "I thought Ageira was against using jump holes," Henry said, with a little curiosity.

"I may follow laws, but I'm not really one for regulations, son," Mike replied to Henry, as he confirmed the docking request.

As the ships all pass through the jump hole, Henry, a little disoriented, quickly recognizes his father's voice, and responds.

"Corsairs! God dammit, they got me out numbered!" Mike yelled over his communicator.

Henry, now aware of the situation, goes thrusters max into combat. He singles out 3 Corsair fighters and quickly downs all of them. Mike then does his own trick as he barrel rolls expertly, using the rear turret of his Eagle VHF to knock out enemy shields. As the fighting rages, both Mike and Henry's scanners light up with the signals of Corsair capital class vessels.

"Henry, go! Get the transports to Freeport 9! I'll hold em' off," Mike said as he sets his shields on max.

"You'll be torn to shreds! I'm not leaving you..." Henry says, but is interrupted.

"Go, now! Please, you and Melissa are all I have left, and I don't want to lose you like I lost your mother," Mike said as Henry acknowledges, flying away from him to reach the convoy.

Mike looks back at his adversaries. "Come at me, I dare ya."

Conclusion

Having only barely made it out of the nebula cloud, Henry sets course for New York. Once he reaches New York, he informs Melissa of their father's sacrifice, and they both mourn together.

Henry returns to active Navy duty shortly after, and is recognized as one of the youngest officers in Liberty Navy history. Henry still flies for the Navy, and always will, for his mother, father, sister, and anyone else who has proudly served their country.
