Yes, the smuggler ID should be there, as Aster correctly states there are already pirate tags and no self respecting pirate would really advertise themselves so openly.

Traders should not be allowed to smuggle goods "unlawful" goods (cardamine, artifacts etc) under any circumstances. They should be smuggling things like Deuterium to Kusari through Bretonia however.

The Smuggler ID should NEVER be a permit for any character to fire on a ship (really strongly disagree with Yngen on that one). The only time that should be allowed is if they're carrying illegal goods and refuse to drop the goods/pay the fine. Otherwise you can kiss that particular RP route goodbye.

The only problem is making the routes dangerous when players aren't around. No-one is really worried about NPC patrols in the Houses. Let's face it, they're pretty toothless really, as far as Smugglers are concerned as they'd be neutral with house NPCs. So bumping up the profit margins is questionable from a balance point of view.

Edit: True, Creampuff. But the smuggler ID should be the pointer to shady dealings, not an "Unlawful" Id. Then any faction can use the ID and have the tag correctly aligned. I honestly think it's the Trader ID that needs to go.
