Discovery endgame gameplay, aka "How do you max out in Disco?"

When I think of "Endgame" (apart from the play of the same name by Samuel Beckett) I think of the point that you will rich and then stop playing.

In most other games it would be the conlcusion of a story or a goal that you reached, after which you see no point in playing it again, exept maybe to find some easter eggs or hidden sidequests.

For a multiplayer game like discovery, the goal isnt to complete a pre-set quest, but to have fun exploring, building your character and stories, or reaching some kind of self-set goals of accomplishments (like creating a faction, a station, owning a certain ship, permanenetly adding something to the mod, holding a leadership position, or simply making friends). Thing is, its up to the player to decide when he reached endgame, and that point will be where he sees nothing more that he wants to do in discovery.

So in here, the only endgame is to lose interest in what ever kept you here. That probably will never happen in the sense that a player thinks "I am at the zenith, I will stop here because I am satisfied now and will stop at my moment of triumpf". (well, maybe the people who became admins and then stopped showing up at disco did that). If you got your faction, your ship, your position, your friends, you'll want to continue playing with them almost certainly. You'll only really "end the game" for these reasons:

-you're dis-illusioned, you'll understand that the goal that you set for yourself can never be reached, one was or another. Your goal could have been to become the Nr1 guy in charge of everything and everyone, or to simply have a little fun without getting stepped on everyhwere you go.

-you saw all the content (would be the case fast if discovery was only a small expansion), or got bored with what you saw and dont feel like exploring any more (which would happen fast if you saw that the large majority of systems are boring wastelands filled with copy-pasted bases and no interesting new things).

So the only real endgame in disco would be rage-quit or boredom.
