Named after the mythic Norse guardian, this ship was designed to operate with full efficiency inside the rocky environments of the Hessian controlled parts of the Omega border worlds, all the while maintaining a superior offensive and support capability.

The Heimdall's a pretty simple ship, when it comes down to it. The Hessians built it with the sole intent of shooting the other guy and stealing his stuff, which it does quite nicely. It's got a narrow enough front-on profile to dodge most firepower a transport's likely to throw at you, and enough forward-firing guns to be on the tail end of a chase. It's a shame we don't shoot down too many transports then, huh? As an escort, the Heimdall's focus on forward firepower means that it's not ideal, but it's a useful ship to have on your side if you need to slip through the asteroids, hit something hard enough to leave them seeing stars, and vanish again.
