A placeholder is exactly what these retextures are intended as, actually. I thought it went without saying, which is why I didn't include it in the original post. Maybe I should add it to the post to avoid any further confusion.
The retexture itself was not even originally made with Phantom shipline in mind. For a while, I spent my free time doing random retextures for Disco ships for my own client-side viewing pleasure, and as it happened, I had that one sittin there and it came up during a completely unrelated discussion I was having with Garrett a while ago. Since he liked the textures, once the subject of the Phantoms replacement faction came up he asked me to submit this to replace the current low quality line, and again, it goes without saying that these ships can and will be replaced once and if anyone puts the time and effort into remaking a line from scratch.
These retextures are only suggested to avoid making a replacement for that line a high priority (since we're nearly rid of imports, and the shipline becoming active again on the official server would've put those models in the spotlight), so modelers can take their time designing a new line after a new faction is established, to fit the specific characteristics of their lore better, since right now any attempt at actually reworking the line would in reality be an attempt based on the Phantoms lore, and not whatever concept that's going to replace them, which is not what we'd like to force modelers into.
I actually went around digging for those models in the dev forums a while back, but far as I could see, those ships were never actually submitted through the proper channels (i.e. dev team didn't receive the actual model files), so unless you can find the original modeler (I think it was Raiku or someone), I'm afraid the only thing we can implement using a couple of .PNG renders is ship icons, not actual flyable ships.
