There could be plenty of reasons how the zoners got their hands with big toys, namely freeport 7 - and that nothing is 100% perfect, perhaps they live in the omicrons so its not exactly "polite" in terms of firepower. Or the same reason that Red Hessians ( who are old miners ) have cruisers and battleships, a balance. In my mind I view it otherwise, In my mind it seems logical for the zoners to have big toys, accumilating wealth and messing with both lawfuls and unlawfuls is a risky thing, most people will attack any group that has wealth, power, and influence - because of jealousy, or a potential risk. I'd like to think that without these ships, any faction would have eaten the zoners - why paying them if they can grab it? - The fear of destruction is always there and its only reasonable for a large group of people, though dvided, to conjure something that they can all agree to, security. And it has been proven over and over again, even within the real-life, when push comes to shove, no one is going to help you out.
