Konnichiwa. Today I report a meeting made by myself with elements of the Rheinland Federal Police forces in the Frankfurt system. The goals of such meeting were to maintain the regular contact and working relationship with Rheinland forces, and to acquire information regarding recent events outside Kusari.
After a few rounds around Kusari core systems, I picked up some gifts to give the expected contacts and headed to the Fulda Border Station on the Frankfurt system.
The voyage went without any incident, and after a while I arrived at the border station and hailed any law enforcement ships on duty through the security channels.
A response came from an officer of the Rheinland Federal Police, RFP|Obt.Thom.Wolthers , who informed that would meet me as soon as his duties allowed him.
I had been concerned with a recent decrease of commercial traffic in Kusari, which was one of the reasons that had made me travel to Rheinland. Seems the cause of such low traffic wouldn't be found there, because a reasonable number of corporate and independent transports did pass through while I waited.
Officer Thom.Wolthers finally arrived, and we exchanged greetings. I offered my gift, 20 units of New Tokyo 5 Star Sake to him and the rest of the police group he belonged to, which was gladly received by the police officer.
We then started a conversation regarding potential security issues on the Kusari/Rheinland border. It seemed that there had not been any incidents that could have disrupted the trade flow in recent days.
We also discussed several topics, from the embargoes levied against Liberty, news from Bretonia, new deployments from the Kusari Navy arsenal, and so on. A transcript of the whole conversation is provided at the end of this report
The rheinlander expressed curiosity about our new Raijin Very Heavy Fighter model, as it was the first time one had been flown in the Rheinland region. I provided some details about the Raijin and our Chimaera Mk.II fighters, and inquired about the ship capabilities of the RFP.
It has become apparent to me that the Federal Police is suffering from budget restrictions, and with the war with Liberty taking it's toll, it's unable to completely field Rheinland military/police vessels for all it's pilots, having to rely on civilian craft to compensate for shortages. Officer Thom.Wolthers was himself flying a civilian Eagle Fighter
During our meeting a freelancer ship Coronado_Star appeared in our area. This Pirate Train vessel was carrying and absurd amount of illegal cargo both by Rheinland and Kusari standards, and was ordered to stop by Thom.Wolthers , with me in support.
The pilot was cocky, and even under our watchful gaze and interrogation, tried to find a way to escape. Due to faulty readings on the Librertonian made trade lane's control protocols, the criminal entered the lane without us being unable to immediately pursuit. We had to recoup our time, and gave chase to him, with my ship providing support for cruise disruption.
When it became apparent that the Rheinland fighter was not able to tear down the transport defenses alone, I requested permission to engage with full force. The request was granted and I engaged the criminal, but still we were unable to destroy him before we lost him in an asteroid field.
We returned to the meeting point, and after a few more topics of conversation, we parted ways and I returned to Kusari space.
I end my report with two recommendations to the Naval Command.
The first one is to hold a joint military exercise or demonstration with Rheinland forces sometime soon, so that we may present our latest advancements in our arsenal to our trusted neighbors.
The second recommendation is to investigate the feasibility of employing some part of our stock of unused fighters designated for our police forces, and lease them for use with the Rheinland Police forces.
