Echo 7-7 is pretty much dead on with his assessment of the situation. I proposed the Revenant faction to the Admins, in private, in order to gauge interest in the idea. There was enough interest expressed to make a formal presentation to the community. Once that presentation was made, others expressed interest in providing alternate ideas regarding the use of Phantom assets. The staff decided to allow others to present their ideas within a reasonable amount of time. The best ones would be collected and voted on.

After sufficient time passed, the staff voted on three different options and The Revenant faction had the most votes. Once that announcement was made, Moveit 56 posted a poll to determine what faction the community would have chosen. Based on the results of that poll, I decided to discard The Revenant faction idea, figuring that the community didn't want anything that remotely resembled the Phantoms of old. I could have continued on with Admin's support, however, I had neither the time, the energy nor the desire to try and prove to the community that this was a novel concept that would add to the RP of the server. To be honest, after that poll, I didn't want anything to do with the community. Many of the people that voted, never took the time to read the concept, nor the story.

My decision to discard The Revenant did not automatically mean that the Etherium would now be the next Phantom replacement. I personally feel that the community doesn't really approve of any of the faction presentations offered because of the fact that they are connected with Phantom ships and assets. While I feel this is ridiculous, it cannot be ignored. It would be far better for you to start your faction like everyone else has to--using the ships and bases available to you under a generic ID and then, once official, apply for your own faction ID. I realize this may create problems for you with your story, however, your faction may be better off in the long run for not being associated with the Phantoms through use of their assets.

I'm speaking here as a fellow player, not an Admin.
