Thabit was constructed and acts as the central nervous system for all O'Rhu operations. With impressive communication relays, housing space, three docking bays with repairing and refueling capabilities, overlooking the mooring points, and a few laboratories, it's development posed few difficulties from the very start, which required quite some logistic and engineering feats.

Furthermore, Thabit Station also complements all other Order installations inside homespace, acting as a deterrent and offering control over its surroundings.

[Image: CqpS2xpm.png?2]Thabit Station was developed after a relative simple, modular project, providing functionality as each module was being completed. Although the project is of civilian design, adjustments have been made in order to fulfill it's role as an Operational base and a Research & Development site. The modules have been assembled on the spot , using the prefabricated components molded at Evora Shipyard.

At the beggining, the Station numbered three main modules, each one of them possessing docking capabilities. The housing modules come fitted with gravitational generators and life-sustain systems based on those used on Order space warfare ships, the decision to use this sort of equipments being made under the "cost efficiency" policy O'Rhu is trying to implement.

Some time after the beggining of the 822 A.S., due to increased hostile activity in Order space, the Directorate came to the conclusion an overhauling of the station was due, to further strengthen it. Along with the renovation of the emplacement, a new module was added. The decisions to overhaul and expand the station were made based on a few factors and after thoroughly discussing them within the Cell leadership.

The site was also intended to act as a depot for O'Rhu's Logistic Nucleus, thus four quadruple "Gargantum" storage pods have been added to the main framework. The technology behind the storage pods is of Zoner nature, but the fabrication process was done at Evora Shipyard, using the best of materials O'Rhu could get and under direct supervision of its engineers.

used to house the main research area fitted with laboratories, a quarantine chamber, isolation-storage areas and TAVIA's Mainframe. Due to the nature of activities undergone in this area, the annex is energy-independent from rest of Station and has an emergency lock-down system. The module was also equipped with a small scale docking bay and storage areas for H-fuel and MOX used by the Station's "Temerar Mark II" shield system. Starting with mid 822 A.S. the lab area was moved into the D annex of the station. The freed-up space is currently used as depots for the Logisitc Nucleus.

Module B:
contains the main docking bay area fitted with repair and refuel capabilities, personnel housings, a few recreational areas and the former Operational quarters. Currently the old Operational quarters spaces are retrofitted to housing spaces. Furthermore, a bar has been established for recreational purposes in this module. This annex, being the first built, also holds the life support systems, the exotic particle shield generator and the wide range of communication arrays used by O'Rhu Cell.

Module C:
contains the main production facilities, the Station's core generator as well as a small docking bay and an external mooring system retrofitted for merchandise management. Two quadruple storage pods have been added as well to cope with the flow of goods and materials needed for fabrication purposes.

Module D:
contains the new Operational area starting with mid 822 A.S., that was moved from Module B, thus allowing more space for the docking and repair areas. Furthermore, the space created in Module B was also used to house some 400 more souls on the station. Another important area in module D is the new R&D area, fitted with an isolation chamber, independent source of energy and a few designated labs. The former labs were situated into module A, but have been moved once the overhaul of the station was completed.

[Image: 0zY9chX.png?1]Building Thabit is in itself a major feet of engineering, but only done possible by usage of a logistical marvel - Gargantum cargo pods - capable of holding tens of thousands of cargo in any shape it came, from bulk to retail, from liquefied gases to solid materials.This is all done by hoarding the cargo with the help of a gravimetric generator, thus creating a gravitational well inside the cargo pod itself. The different merchandises are then amassed together by the gravitational pull and, based on densities and shape and with the help of a poli-optic analyzer they are stored in different areas of the same pod.

The Gargantum's framework consists of two shells, the outer shell, made of a common titanium alloy, wrapped around the inner shell - the cocoon - made of a synthetic material that has insulating properties - providing a constant climate, changeable with the help of the climatronic system in-housed.
Liquefied cargo is going to be held into block 4 of each cargo pod unit, where a special modification is made to the delivery bulkhead. It has been transformed into a self-seal extensible boom-arm that connects to the delivery ship.

Although the main objective is to act as a central nervous system for all Cell's activities, the base is complemented by a wide array of different systems all of which are helping to fulfill it's goals:

ACCESSING [V.Technology]
Thabit Station was intended as an all-in-one command and research structure and was so designed and engineered from the beginning. In order to achieve this desideratum, O'Rhu engineers employed the help of Zoners for their base-building know-how. The Station's civilian design and the storage pods proves at first glimpse that the Station was fabricated following old Zoner blueprints. The similitudes though stop about there. Equipping the base was left in the care of Order engineers. Thabit employes homogeneous technology in almost all it's fields of activity, from long range communication to research facilities and laboratory equipment. This allows cooperation efforts between Cell and other Order assets to be made with great ease and to satisfactory results.

[Image: QVAcOGbm.jpg]From the beginning, building an integrated central system proved to be a difficult undertaking. Considering the ever shrinking manpower the Order is facing and the problem of maintaining the base operational with crews to a minimum, the idea of implementing an AI interface suddenly appealed to O'Rhu's decision-makers.

Although efforts have been made in the pursuit of this feature, the current version is no more than a tuned-up sentry-AI coupled with an archivist module and a holo-emmiter feed. This allows for some basic function to be operated by the AI unit, amongst which:
  • Station's automated defense grid
  • IFF recognition
  • Data-base up-keeping
  • Relaying communication
  • Providing up-to-date space imagery
  • Opperating deep-space and long range sensors

The AI mainframe is located into Module A, decision made based on the energy independence of this module from the rest of the station. In case of a major power failure, Module A has a back-up small-scale generator that will keep all the in-housed systems operational. The mainframe is composed of several bio-neural based computing units coupled to an optronic array which usues Solid State Lasers (SSL) to beam the information to the Local Interface Points (LIP) spread across the entirety of the Station. The optical chips inside the LIPs are then converting the information into a holo-feed for the emitters to display virtually everywhere on the station. Using SSL provides the advantage of almost instantaneous response from TAVIA and the bio-neural processors of the computing units are capable of multitasking, thus allowing multiple instances of TAVIA interface to be live at any given time.

Considering the advantages TAVIA interface offeres, efforts are taken currently to adapt it for usage onboard Cell's ships.

[Image: bxnivAmm.png]O'Rhu's engineers decided to solve the issue of protecting the base using a a two layer shielding technique to assure a satisfactory result against all range of enemy attacks and navigational hazards. The shield system is made out of an outer forcefield destined to stop energy based attacks through usage of an exotic particles forcefield and an inner kinetic barrier doubled by the station's outer hull plating. While the forcefield has a more generic form (spherical forcefield) and works only when needed be, the kinetic barrier follows the station's contour to the letter and is kept running on a permanent basis.

The main component of the forcefield layer is an exotic particle generator derived from those used on the Space warfare vessels. The particles are then directed into a matrix of field capacitors for storage. Once the outer shield is activated, the particles are relayed through a resonator to match the incoming phase of the attacks, amplified in order to insure at least 90% attack dampening and modulated in order to cycle the frequency of the field, making it less possible for enemies to match frequencies, ensuring this way a merely 1% bleedthrough. The shield distribution array (SDA) is located on top of Module B and it uses shield emitter-based projectors. The particle distribution is corrected by the Shield manifold system (SMS). It uses filed couplings to harmonize the forcefield in order to maintain its coherence. Energy from incoming attacks that cannot be completely deflected is absorbed and stored in heat sinks. The shields can become overloaded if the system absorbs heat more quickly than it can be radiated away thus making it necessary to shut down the systems while it is cooling off, or the projectors will burn out and require replacement.

The kinetic barrier system uses heavy mass accelerated particles. The accelerometer ensures the particles are brought to speed every time they re-enter the circuit.A mesh of nano-tubbing is layered out on the outer surface of the station ensuring the necessary pathway. Due to mass and high speed of the particles, particles inertia is enough to stop high speed projectiles or explosions and reflect them outwards. Furthermore, the outer shelling of the station is ensuring no slow flying projectile is reaching the habitable space and is capable of withstanding the destructive force of most common ammunition.
