The totals in his head were surprisingly low, he realised. With the off-time for himself and his crew, allocated days for maintenance on the Jewel and the added caution from all the increasing threats in the field, time for actual mining operations was falling short of expectations. With his best efforts he wasn't even on track for half of his previous months' performance; a worrying thought given how quickly credits seemed to disappear...

With a start, Alex broke free from his reverie and snapped his eyes open to find the Lord MacRae sitting across from him and chatting idly. He caught on to the subject quick enough though, thankfully, and did his best to reassure his employer.

"Sorry, 'Mac, was in a world of my own for a bit there!" he grinned sheepishly, reaching forward to find his drink and taking a sip.

"But I shouldn't worry, me an' the lads over there are getting accustomed to the problems in the field and we're doing alright. There's not many ships that'll come too close now with FortiSec active so nearby." He drained the last gulp of his drink and nodded satisfyingly. "'ta for the concern though, it's encouraging to have a caring employer. And I'll keep an eye open for that man, sounds like he'll be a valuable asset!"

Stretching out a stiffness in his back from sitting for so long, he quickly came to realise the weight of tiredness, his eyelids feeling like paperweights for all they wanted to close. He stood slowly and glanced over to where his crew still remained in their booth, their noise more subdued now and lost in the general business of the bar. He decided to leave them be for now and retire to his cabin alone.

"With that said, I think I'll get myself some shut-eye. It'll be a busy month, and I'll need all my wits tomorrow in the field I think. Cheers, 'Mac, have another Mojito on my tab - open for the month of course, given my winnings from June!"

He gave his fairwells and, after settling a quick payment with Jim, left the bar in search of his rooms further in the depths of the station.
