In 4.87, Daumann having secret ties with Corsairs and Unioners are reflected in gameplay. The hostile rephack to both factions was lifted and changed to atleast no-dock/neutral. Here is an extract from the Rheinland Plot Summary regarding the Munich disaster which should explain the reasoning behind this change.
You could reflect that in your diplomacy too, although Unioners probably won't announce this to the public.
This probably does not automatically exclude Daumann as piracy targets in any case, but occasionally turning a blind eye onto some of them or being more generous when it comes to piracy towards them would probably be one result of the "bribe".

Some of this aid is being diverted by Daumann to Unioner proxies, and in turn the Corsairs. The Unioners are taking advantage of this event, as well as Daumann's overtures towards them. The Unioners intend to play both sides, seeking to run Blood Diamonds from the Hessians, and Artifacts from the Corsairs. Their base still lurks in the deep nebula, adjacent to a jump hole to the Sigmas.
The Bundschuh are still hoping to spoil the party. They are well aware of Daumann's heinous attempts to use this humanitarian crisis for political and economic advantage.
