The Ravenclaw doesn't look that much like our fighters. Look at the wings. The ship's wings go forward not back and at an angle that would doom flight capabilities of atmospheric fighters.

Also The main thing the Ravenclaw has in commen with our planes is the skinnyness. And even some original FL ships are skinny. Such as the Dagger.

Now maybe the Talon does look a bit like a modern fighter but its fine as long as there aren't like 3+ of them.
