I served, and I only did not apply for a full military career because of juvenile... idiocy. I got caught smoking a joint while still in training *snickers* . Oh well, long ago.
Military service is a FULLY professional job, no party and no easy life. Regardles of the country or ideal you serve.
Thats why it´s called service. And it is NOT a *get a weapon and training for free* bootcamp.
Ask yourself this question : If an officer tells you to serve by doing office work, or by getting training as paramedic... will you do it ?
Or chose to set your own ego and your wish to do heavy weapons duty over his command, or the needs of your comrades ? And so on...
If your in it for the weapons : Quit it. Get lost.
Get rich, buy a shooting range, buy a professional trainer and / or bodyguard.
Not patriotic enough ? Well, I dont care.
Im German. I know what an overdose of weapon using fanatics can do if they are told its ok to shoot something.
Still not patriotic enough ?
Oh , by the way : I grew up in London, lived there during the Falkland war.
I could still get a british pass any time I wanted to.
