Ma! Ma! Get da kids into the cellar! There's a #@&* storm on the horizon! Looks like we're about to be hit bad!
Firstly, I will poison my arguments by reminding that I am a member of the Xeno Alliance, though I make every attempt in every discussion to remain impartial.
The common responce to these types of threads, and doubtless one which will be rearing its ugly head soon enough is "Each faction comes with its own limitations", true enough, but sometimes the argument leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Some factions seem to be more 'limitations' than others, and that aint because of RP.
The point about Xenos needing to trek halfway across Sirius to secure ourselves a bit of kit has been brought up on a few occasions, as has the issues about the Xenos being a faction that would be delighted to have access to a vessel better able to manage the uniquely high demand power drain presented by our weapons.
Both of these issues generally cause a sort of angst in the community not completely unlike one caused by heavy chafing on a hot day whilst being attacked by a bear while your special ladyfriend calls up to say stuff about just being friends.
Not to say that the Eagle is anything but an amazing ship and we're lucky to have access to it. I'm a wretched pilot and I can perform magic with that thing... For the seven seconds my powerplant can hold out under the strain of two black widows and four suntigers... While being chased by four mercs, two bounty hunters, six cops and two outcasts in a mixture of various cruisers, gunboats and fighters... Because everyone loves a Xeno.
But, we're poor. Right, forgot. Someone should really start an organization to support all of these 'poor' factions.
I due note with a little tongue in cheek irony that Jinx's new Junker ship concept (an utterly beautiful model I might add, but surprise there) was enthusiastically declared a Unioner vessel. I wasn't aware the Unioners had won the lottery.
I've also been of a mind to wonder if perhaps the ID limitation on SHFs, and possibly transports, shouldn't be lifted as well, given that the other benefits presented by the ID (the ability to engage at will) has been more or less put into cold storage.
Heck, someone might as well be using those SHF as ultra-light gunboats, as they were intended. Given our status as the most ghetto faction in Sirius.
