Konnichiwa. It's been a while since anything worthwhile has occurred in our sector, but that has changed, although is not by much.
Yesterday I was deployed from the Battleship Matsumoto to investigate a suspicious transport that had passed the Otaru Border Station with a LN transponder, heading north.
I launched on my bomber and made haste to Rishiri system, and then to Nagano where the trail was heading.
I've found nothing near the gate, and headed to the Luxury Liner Mackinac to recalibrate my scanners to the new system environment.
As I approached planet Tomioka, I located the suspect Libertonian transport.
The vessel, designation 4-56|LLS-Rushmore-E , was a Mastodon transport of a Logistics Division of a Liberty Navy Fleet, carrying furs from Tomioka. It is unknown what they had brought with them to Nagano.
I've interrogated the pilot about his presence there. The Lieutenant Commander Mike seemed more at home in a shipping company than in the Navy, and all this talk about navy ships doing commercial work seemed highly suspicious. His tendency to call me Tojo was odd, and either it is a Liberty codename, or my transponder was corrupted. I asked both engineering and the intelligence office for both possibilities.
Since the pilot was on his way back to Liberty, I just decided to escort him to the border, to make sure he wouldn't make any trouble, and no trouble came to him.
We had a long conversation on the flight to Kepler, and parted way at Ames research station. He promised to have his division give us notice when such flights occur on our territory, but I wouldn't count on those Libertonians to follow our rules very much.
