In Vogtland Base sat a young, fit boy whose dress would have put the rest of the station to shame, if Red Hessians felt anything but disdain for marks of monetary station, that is. Either way, the boy seemed to care even less about his advantaged situation than they did. Before long, an officer pulled up a chair opposite the youth. The Hessian officer then, with little ceremony, asked the boy to explain himself. The boy called himself Jakob Wedel, he said that he, age sixteen, came from a well-off family but had always held sympathies for the far left.
Jakob's father owned large tracts of land on Baden Baden, even though Hans Wedel, Jakob's father, ran his resort operations independent of Orbital Spa and Cruise, they hand an understanding and relations were surprisingly friendly. While Jakob was uncomfortable with his family's proximity to big business, he said it wasn't until he befriended some members of the LWB that he truly became a socialist sympathizer. When the Hessian asked him why a boy such as himself would associate with the LWB, Jakob explained that he had been eager to meet someone his age who wasn't nearly so haughty as those he met on Baden Baden and when he saw two boys only a couple years his elder in a bar in a station not far from his home planet, he introduced himself. The boys became fast friends and though it was a clandestine friendship, Jakob said he had never felt such camaraderie nor such contrast in situation with anyone else he had met. Overtime the LWB boys informed Jakob of the plight of the farmer and the miner, the dissidents and the oppressed. Jakob was moved by this and urged his father to speak, but Hans Wendel knew what happened to whistle-blowers in Rheinland and forbade Jakob to speak of it again.
Up until that point Jakob had decided that staying with his family and working to correct societal wrongs from under the Chancellor's nose was best. But one day the Wendel residence was hosting a couple of very high profile visitors, the current VP of Daumann Heavy Construction and his son. After a long night of boring company Jakob, his sister, and the VP's son retired to the lawn. After about an hour, Jakob left his sister with the boy, who was only about a year older than he. When Jakob came back a short time later, he found the VP's son trying to force himself on his sister. Enraged, Jakob beat the scoundrel near-to and well past the brink of death. Realizing what he had done, the boy explained that he made his initial escape that night and flew into the LWB's Darmstadt Depot before being redirected to the Red Hessian Army due to his upperclass education and his fiercely militant feelings towards Rheinland's corporations .
With the story done, the Red Hessian Army officer asked Jakob for his S.K.Y.P.E protocols and his experience in combat. Jakob informed the officer that his formal education had given him an intimate knowledge of Sirius history and more than proficient flight skills, but that he had little experience fighting in a squadron. Finally Jakob gave the Hessian his S.K.Y.P.E. protocols (Codename: johnifity or Mail Code for S.K.Y.P.E. : jkim43699@gmail.com) and requested to be placed in the main RHA wing if he was accepted, noting also that he operated on a GMT-4 time schedule. Then the officer left to evaluate the applicant's readiness in private.
