The liner has been fully fitted as a mobile medical facility
It has patient facilities comprising 60 intensive care units, 150 standard care beds, 4 palliative care suites and 8 category 5 isolation suites with additional xeno containment modifications at research level specifications. These are manned by a full complement of medical staff including surgeons, doctors pharmacists and nurses.
Full surgical and diagnostic facilities are available and include atomic force microscopes, NMR, GCMS, a range of radiological and holographic investigative scanners and PET detectors. Full isotopic discrimination facilities and a full set of biomedical research laboratories with full spec medical microbiology, neurological, clinical biochemistry, medical genetics, immunological, haematological, histological and pathological research laboratories.
There is a medical complement of 450 staff, 40 research scientists and a further support team of 550 to run the ship, galleys and logistics associated with a vessel operating to standards equal, or in many cases superior to a standard ship of the line.
