Yep. Tells you with relative accuracy (within a System at best, within half of outer Sirius at worst) where everything is. And... you *don't* need a battleship. Really. Try it on OpenSP, there's one available at the shipyards in NY; they really aren't worth the two weeks of power trading. Or the flak you'll get for being an indie cap. Seriously- I HIGHLY suggest joining a faction and learning the ropes before going for it. Not only are they not as powerful as you think they are, they can't manouvre for anything, get stuck in scrap fields, have FUN times getting into tradelanes and jumpgates (read: welcome to hell, enjoy the pop-rocks and Disney-style waiting times), get completely owned by bombers, and will usually invoke a very negative feeling toward you. Well deserved most of the time, actually.
EDIT: And welcome to discovery- at least you have 14 posts when I see this, a fair bit better than a certain person who showed up in Flood two days ago...

Thank you. Yes I am playing OpenSP because I don't want to go to multiplayer and be a total noob. It's no fun for me it's no fun for people around me so I don't do it.

I like the hail feature I always wanted to do that. Though some ships you can't really tell. One time I did it to some Outcasts and I knew they were attacking someone but they just said they were going to a planet and they obviously weren't they were standing still.

Yeah I have seen battleships on youtube and they look cool but so glitchy. Even NPCs with trains glitch I mean I see them like almost upside-down sometimes.

Right now I have a very heavy fighter called the Eagle. With these pretty sweet level 9 fury machine gun things. I want to get a convoy ship or something because it says in some factions you can do that if you want which is cool. What are convoy ships called? Does it just mean like freighters or is there actually like a convoy specific ship? And what does cap ship mean? Does that mean "capital"? or something else.

I am really eager to try out factions but I went to this site called battleclinic and they said the bounty hunters had multiple bases so I go to one of them and its the independent miners guild so that site sucks sometimes. But I got an official map so I know where it is. Unfortunately because I am in Tau 23 thanks to that site I am far from it. It looks like its near Rheinland or something maybe Texas.
