Preamble

While credits is what makes Sirius go round, we constantly find ourselves having to dig through characters so that we can make up enough money to buy a shiny new toy. However, by using a range of techniques, we are able to create a character that holds all of our precious credits and is easily accessed through a simple command. A "Bank Character", if you will.

This tutorial will feature the use of [brackets] which will indicate a variable that you must input (remove the square brackets from the actual input). It will also feature lines of code...
Code:
...such as this...
that display the exact command to put into the chat in-game.

Step 1 - Creating a character

First things first, make a new character. The name doesn't need to be particularly flashy, but there are usually three types of people:
  • People that name their Bank character with a [Bank], |Bank, Bank| or just have Bank in the name. This signifies this character as a bank and is borderline ooRP, but is often not worth worrying about.
  • People that hide their bank name. These people usually have a unique alias to hold all of their precious dosh on. Most of them don't make particular sense, but always appear professional.
  • People who don't have a single bank. These people may hold all of their cash on a commonly used character, faction ship or favored capital. There certainly isn't anything wrong with this tactic as you save yourself the issue of another character to log every 6 months, but other people have other opinions.

For this example, I'll name mine...

Step 2 - Setting a cash code

In order to set a cash code, we'll have to use this code:
Code:
/set cashcode [your code here]

This part is crucial. A cash code is practically a PIN or password to your bank. Make it something you'll remember and that no one will guess. I cannot stress enough how much you must not tell other people your cash code. It is also worth noting that you should fly around a bit on this character to gain sufficient flying time so you can actually draw cash from it.

Once you punch in a cool/secret/memorable code, you should get this message:

Note: You can change your code at anytime, using the same command. You do not need to re-enter your current code to update it.

Great! This code will allow us to access this character's cash from another character. Next step!

Step 3 - Filling your Bank

Whether you've been trading, mining, selling ships/weapons, completing missions or collecting bounties, you'll want to put your cash from other characters onto this character. This is achieved by using the /givecash command:
Code:
/givecash [target] [amount] anon

The target in our case will be our bank and the amount is the amount we've gained from this money gaining activity. The [anon] input is there if you feel as if you want to give money anonymously, it is not necessary for the command to work. Once you've input the command successfully, you'll receive this message:

This will signify that the cash has been sent. Log out and check your Bank Character. You should see this message:

Note: This example says the money has been received from 17th.Star, but this will change depending on the name of the character you sent it from.

Step 4 - Drawing Cash

Now that we've set a cash code and put cash on it, we can finally draw cash from this character anywhere at anytime. Use the /drawcash command here to access it with the code we set earlier:
Code:
/drawcash [your bank character's name] [cash code] [amount]

Once you have successfully input the command, this message will appear:

You'll find your pockets a little bit more heavier after that little withdrawal. If you swap over to your bank, you'll find this message:

This can be used to monitor how much cash you've been giving out and allows you to reflect on your credit output.

That's it!

Super simple bank characters. If you have any issues, questions or suggestions, my PM Box is open. If there is an issue with cash codes, it'd be best to tell the Admins and not post it in this thread. Again, tell an Admin, not this thread.

Remember to log this Bank character too, it needs 9 minutes of activity, otherwise it'll be wiped from the server in 3 days. In that case, it's a good idea to make your bank character a trader, or frequently used character, but occasionally logging a character every 6 months isn't a bother either.

Either way, enjoy the free access to credits!
