October 25, 821 A.S.
One more day and we will start counting the votes. Kusarians, one more day and your new Parliament will be assembled. Recently, KTNA interviewed the leader of the KRP. Today we will continue these series of interviews with the leader of the N-KA, mister Yukio Hatoyama. His party occupies the second position as shown by the exit polls.

Konnichiwa, Hatoyama-san. Thank you for accepting our invitation. Like I said, the latest exit polls place the N-KA in the second position. Did you expect such good performance from your party before the elections?

Well elections are hard to predict. Otherwise I would have cheated in the elections. Well to answer your question, we did not expect such a good result. The voters have exceeded our expectations. The prediction of newcomers is normally one of the last positions. But we’re happy to see that the we’re in second place.

A joke, I'm sure, about the cheating. What do you think attracted the kusarians to vote for your party?

I believe, Kwan-san, that the people of Kusari want to gain more political influence in the sirian politics. At the moment Kusari has nothing to say. At the moment all the houses try to get on a good stance with us because of our location. They want to improve their trade and so their economic strengths. We want that they tremble and quake for our Republic.

Will you try to form an alliance with other parties in order to obtain majority in the Parliament? If so, what are the parties that would interest you?

Well at the moment the Kusari Reformation Party is at the winning side. If they win the elections they need to make the majority. If we would be invite into their majority our vote in the Parliament would have nothing to say as we’re half as small as they are. I would rather consider to take an alliance with all the other parties so that our voices will be heard in the parliament. Of course all the options are still open as the elections are not over yet.

What would be the first thing you try to change in Kusari? You’ve always talked about nationalizing GMG and the Sigmas/Okinawa. Will you try to push these matters in the Parliament?

Certainly yes, if we could realize that we would have such an economical power. Take for example the embargo that had been on for a few weeks. We could do that in big because Kusari would have the monopoly in H-Fuel trade. As well the Sigmas can them become a more secure place for traders. Especially for our trade organisations. We all know GMG likes to gain money from Samura and Hogosha. If we would be able to stop this, that money could go to the people of Kusari.

An interesting point but let's talk about our defense program. What do you think about the state of our naval forces? It’s clearly that we lack the power we had before the short conflict with the Kingdom of Gallia. Any ideas on how to bring back our military might?

Well there are some ideas. If we have been able to nationalize GMG and it’s territory we could raise the taxes on H-fuel allot (not for allied houses). This money can be invested in our military might and the good of our people. We could as well increase our trade fleets with other houses to fill our treasury. We need to get all our corporations together (Kishiro, Samura, GMG and Hogosha) to gain that economical might to rebuild our Naval Forces.

More than 50% of the populace have expressed their political options until now. One more day to go till the end of the elections but presence have dwindled. Do you think anything will change or the exit polls will be similar to the truth?

I hope things can change and that we would get more votes but that is unpredictable. We’re not able to change the mind of the people. The only thing we can do is show our population that N-KA does what it needs to do.

How would you explain the low interest for politics? Do you think the people are fed up with all these changes?

Well in my opinion the people have lost their faith in the government. The last regime did not archived that much or even anything in my opinion. The only this they did good was the embargo on the Republic of Liberty. The population needs to regain it’s faith in government, that is exactly what we will try to archive.

Thank you for your answers, Hatoyama-san. You heard it people, one of the most direct party leaders we know to date. This is Kenji Kwan and you're watching KTNA. Arigato!
