Staff roles: Balance Dev
I'm afraid that expecting people to pay substantial repair bills is also rather foolish. I know I sure as hell am not going to dock a ship and lose five million patching it up when I can instead plant it in a planet's atmosphere and lose nothing.
Roleplay wise: is it more 'acceptable' in your mind to - if you want to avoid the costs of docking and repairing your ship - let your ship get blown up by your adversary (and likely have them steal a portion of your cargo / maybe even take the husk of your ship) than it is to dive into the atmosphere? Considering both courses of action would require the use of escape pods, I don't really see why one is 'good roleplay' while the other is 'bad roleplay'. One could argue that setting your ship up to burn up in some planet's atmosphere would be a 'planned' way of destroying the ship, and thus it would be easier to plan your getaway as well.
Also yes hello I'm posting here because I greatly enjoy practicing the art of Forum Warfare.
