In short, this is how Fable 1 should look like (it lacks marriage or dating, but it's only a few of the things missing in that game). I am like 9 hours in the game and I didn't even started the main quest.
I cannot really describe the thing, but it seems like a mixture of Dragon Age, Oblivion and forementioned Fable. The game area is huge, even in the basic game. With add-ons, it is even bigger.
I played a demo a bit, then bought a full game (at Polish version of gamestop), because I got interested.
I was not prepared how it will take me inside its BIG world or how many sidequests are there. Heed this! Crafting alone (both smithing, gem crafting and alchemy) is awesome. You can dismante few weak weapons, instead of selling them, then create one even stronger weapon. I ended up dismantling three 30 damage weapons, but when I made a new one, it not only deals like 100 damage, but also gives a lot of additional effects - have you even been hit by poison, fire and ice damage at the same time? Here you go.
And developing the character... On the one hand, you have abilities from three classes: Finesse, Might and Sorcery. Simple as that. But on the other hand, when you distribute points, you can choose your fate. What is that? Well, in short, class. When you go into magic, you can choose tiers of that. Same if you are going into way of the sword. What's so special about it? You can mix classes, so you have like about 70(?) different Fates - which gives additional bonuses aside to the attributes. Additional tiers for Fates are unlocked when you have enough points onto either of sorcery, might and finesse.
Moreover, if you don't like your Fate, you can revert it (for gold) at one guy, then redistribute abilities, attributes and so on. FLEXIBLE AS HELL. You want paladin? Cool, here you go. Mixture of mage and rogue? No problem. All of three? There are also such tiers of Fates.
I'm just... speechless about this one. I just wasn't prepared for how good that game is.
