"You don't need to be sure... I can keep them away..." She bites her lip and watches him staring at the wall. She shakes her head and cautiously rests one of her hands on his back.
"Isn't that what you want?"
She was about to interrupt when he said this. She fell silent. It was what she wanted, but not by putting him in danger. She didn't know how to make him understand this
"Jackson...." she sighs and watches him put the bottle away, really wanting to say something about his drinking, but she refrains. "I wanted to get you home... I still care about you, I don't want you to end up dead...." She watches him, wishing there was a way she could make things ok.
"You don't have to do this...." She runs her hand down his back as far as she could reach from lying down as she gets more confident he isn't going to react to it. "We can fix this." She wanted to believe what she was saying, and a part of her did, she just hoped he would let her at least try.
