I was also going to expand on a point similar to Corundum's, because there's a lot of misinformation in this thread that you need to be aware of.
The BHG Core ID means that, with the exception of Sigma-19, Sigma-17, and the Omicrons, you can't fly a Cruiser/Battlecruiser/Battleship into a system with a Jump Gate at all, so most house space is off-limits. It doesn't matter if you're just flying and not attacking, were invited, pursuing a bounty, escorting a transport, etc. - you could get sanctioned and potentially lose your guns/armor/credits/ship. If you need to hunt or escort in house space, switch to a smaller ship class (though the Omicrons could always use more activity).
The current rules and restrictions are mostly designed to prevent capital ships from going everywhere, attacking everything, and houses rarely appreciate capital ships in their space, even from allies. The most freedom and versatility in chasing pirates is still as a Bounty Hunter/board registered Freelancer in a gunboat or bomber.
