So I've been wandering Sirius for years now, working as a Freelancer for hire to just about anyone that will pay me. Generally, life out here amongst the stars isn't as good to other Freelancers as it has been to me, I have 3 ships of my own (admittedly, one has some rented equipment) that I can utilize from the small hangar I rent on Trenton, and those ships have some considerable worth to them (for a Freelancer at least). Some might say I've been fairly successful as a Freelancer, and I'd say it's been exceptional. I've seen many Freelancers find permanent work, even getting themselves desk jobs, and I've seen many Freelancers become mercenaries or join Military organisations of some sort. I've also seen a fair share of Freelancers just stop flying amongst the stars completely because of financial trouble, or even just because their health prevents them from being out in the 'verse too long. Either way, there have been many people that I've stumbled past in my walk amongst the stars, and though I'm not the most successful out there, I do think it's a good idea for me to write my experiences somewhere.

With that out of the way, I think it'd be best to start at the start. Who am I? Where have I been? What have I done?

Well, I'm not really sure where I came from. It might have been Barrier Gate Station in Cornado, but a lot of my growing up was on various bases amongst Liberty and Bretonia. My father was an Electrician for DSE and was often out on big, complex jobs that meant we'd be staying at different bases every month or two. This didn't really bother me, Dad made enough money for me to buy my own ship at 13 years old, barely old enough to see out of the cockpit, mind you, but it was definitely better than hanging around inside a base all day. While Dad was working, I'd be out learning to fly amongst other Freelancers, and doing a little bit of travel and trade between bases. Never got picked on by pirates as they didn't want to kill a kid, so I was pretty safe for the first few years of my space faring.

After a couple of years of trading and scouting ahead for traders and the like, I had enough money to get out of my little pre-owned Falcon Heavy Fighter, and through a little bit of bargaining and knowing the right people, I moved into my first real ship of my own at the age of 15. The Waran, which I still fly today as my preferred ship. I've never loved the look of a ship more than the look of a Raven's Talon or Waran, and the Waran seemed like a better choice for me as I was looking for something comfortable, spacious and powerful. With a few modifications to my ship's weight and retro-thrusters, and the main engine being tuned by a friend of mine on Barrier Gate Station, I had a heavy bomber that was tuned well enough to stand it's ground against lighter bombers and even some fighters, though I was under no illusion that I could fight a skilled fighter pilot and come out on top. I knew the risks of buying a heavy bomber like being able to be killed by light and heavy fighters, but it seemed more advantageous to get something with a lot of firepower that can still stand a chance against bigger fighters and other bombers.

After writing "Misfit" on the left side of the Waran's nose in heat-resistant paint, and painting a fierce-looking mouth and teeth on the nose to look intimidating, I left Freeport 4 to roam the stars for a while. My first job in my new Waran was assisting Liberty and Bretonian forces in repelling Gallic incursion into Leeds. Using my bomber, I managed to keep my distance from the fights but still throw enough Nova torpedoes into Gallic capital ships and being able to shoot down Gallic bombers to help out in fights. Bretonia payed me fairly generously for my help and offered me a spot in the BAF, but I declined as I was just a Freelancer starting out, not looking for a steady job or a permanent position.

My help in the combat in Leeds made me feel, well, really good about myself. My only real problem was the smog clouds in Leeds tearing the painted teeth and the "Misfit" off my ship's nose, which I had to repaint. I decided it would be good to move into the Taus to see what it was like as I'd never been there. Dad used to tell me he was constantly harassed by Outcast during his time working on Freeport 10, so I thought maybe I'd go and see what the Outcasts were all about.

Once I arrived in the Taus however, I found myself becoming immediately lost. The Taus seemed so big, and I didn't know my way around them. After a couple of days just wandering around the Taus, I found myself at Java Station, an IMG base in the Tau 23 system. It was here that I met up with a lady named Anna I believe it was. McCarthy? Maybe. She taught me a fair bit about surviving out on the edges of Sirius, and how to stay alive in altercations with fighter pilots. This training proved to be invaluable when the Outcasts found out there was a Freelancer training with the IMG, and saw me as a threat. I was basically taught, as a heavy bomber that I should either find myself dominating, or defending myself in a fight with a smaller ship. After a few weeks of tactics training, I thought it'd be better for me to head down through the Taus again to try my luck getting gun-for-hire like contracts.

I headed home, or at least where I thought home was (because I'm not really sure), to Liberty. After renting a small hangar on Trenton Outpost, I found myself escorting traders at least 3 times a day from Liberty up to Kusari, or into Bretonia. A lot of the time these runs were pretty quiet, but in the times it weren't I found myself being able to apply my training to real combat scenarios, and defended hundreds of transports over the years against pirates on the lanes. I wouldn't call myself an expert in fighting with a bomber, but I could destroy ships more than half my size by the time I was 17. I'd been escorting transports in and out of Liberty for the last couple of years, and now I'm almost 18. Some pilots say I'm the youngest person they've ever seen flying a ship in their entire career, and I can't say I've met a pilot younger than myself flying alone.

Over the last couple of years, I've managed to make hundreds of millions of dollars simply escorting ships and fulfilling bounties. Most unlawfuls don't consider me an enemy, but they really don't like me because of my days escorting. Similar can be said about lawfuls, for different reasons of course. Lawfuls have seen me hanging out with the wrong people apparently, and can sometimes be a little sceptical of my intentions.

I'm just trying to make a lot of money. That's really it.

With all of the money I've acquired over these past few years, I've spent nearly all of it on upgrades to my ship, as well as purchasing a Raven's Talon and fully arming and upgrading it, as well as... Well. More or less stealing a ship. I've become pretty proficient in the use of technologies that make my life as a Freelancer easier, like cloaking devices that make it easy for me to sneak up to my bounty targets, flank pirates attacking transports, or sneaking past pesky patrols. I've recently started to build a business, but that's a story for another time.

I hope this log has helped me tell my story in some way. I'm not sure where this log is going to go or how many people could potentially read it, but I'll keep updating it as I see I need to.

Misfit out.
