Sibling Rivalry

Glancing up, Marisa's face seemed to flicker quickly through a spectrum of emotions. On one hand, her brother was a sorry sight - 'dishevelled' just about summed it up. On the other hand, the joy in his expression was more important than anything else. It was as if, all of a sudden, she had become acutely aware of just how much she'd missed her brother.

"Hey!" she called in reply, pulling her brother instantly into a powerful hug. It had been months - almost a year, in fact; and it wasn't even as if she'd expected it to end this soon. In fact, she hadn't expected to see her brother again for even longer. The news of his return had been a surprise - and if she was honest, she still didn't know how she felt about it on the whole - but right now, she was only thinking of the positives.

Finally releasing him, she took a step back, gazing at him critically. "Jesus, Mal," she tutted. "You look terrible. What the hell've you been doing?" Her voice was tinged with relief and worry, in equal measure.

"What happened to your head?" she frowned, eyeing the gash on her brother's head with distaste. "Where'd you get that cut?"
