That doesn't make a difference. Asteroids don't provide enough cover from the platforms.

That's better; giving a less one-sided statement. I'm still extremely skeptical of your claim however, as that is really not the case. At least those may be extremely rare exceptions where the platforms bug out of the haulers/miners are dumb and put themselves into a sticky situation.

Of course it's about me when I'm using myself as an example. I'm have ships and characters on both sides of this argument but I don't think balance should lean towards the pirates.
You were using yourself as an example as to why owners/users of these bases are so incredibly snobbish that they don't give a toss about the fairplay on the other side of the coin. As you stated you only care about making money for yourself. Balance should lean towards pirates for once, recently they've had nothing but nerfs in their direction and traders have had all the buffs. Generally, between traders vs pirates things are massively outbalanced in the traders favor and POBs in mining fields are contributing to this. The balance is lacking.

But BMF built 2 bases there and the miners are, most of the times, escorted and in this case it is impossible to successfully pirate them, yes, I agree. But a pirate shouldn't be able to engage all the time. There are targets that you can simply not touch. I don't see how that's harming the gameplay since there're other places where the security isn't that strong.
But it is harming gameplay. You're creating scenarios that remove any possibility of fun and fairplay on the pirates side of things. It's scary how easily inclined you are to say "if they can't access this part of the mod, tough! Screw them! They should go play somewhere else!". Such attitudes like that are harmful to the server, as you do not treat players equally and disregard the other group.
