Ms Karen Jameson,

Hello, my name is Ollie Tyres, Bretonian born and raised, and affiliate of the Bretonian Labor Party.

I read your article on the BBC about Canary Wharf station and I feel obliged to perhaps, dig into the situation. Canary Wharf isn't the issue here, MP, it's the corporations that are the problem.

Now naturally, such a bold statement would be expected of a "communist bastard" such as myself, but please, hear me out.

Canary Wharf is a Border Worlds Exports owned and run station, sporting the title of trading and production hub. My initial reaction to this construction was simply pure joy, something, anything to help stimulate the economy makes me jump for joy, you see. But I soon realized the problem with this concept.

As it stands, Bretonian corporations are doing surprisingly well for themselves, despite the constant state of warfare that the nation finds itself in. I shouldn't need to pull up any form of statistics for that one, as over the course of the Kusari and Gallic War, we have seen the construction of modular stations such as King's Cross, Port Talbot, the Tower of London and now, Canary Wharf. While holding the money is one thing, keeping an economy alive is another.

As you stated yourself, we are in debt. In order to keep the economy stimulated, the people need the money so that it can keep flowing through the nation. The problem, as you may have already guessed, is that we, the people, do not have any money. Greedy corporations are keeping us at minimum wage, hoarding the profits for themselves and putting it into irrelevant projects, while Bretonia crumbles like feta cheese. We need change, we need an amendment.

We need the money to be taken away from the corporations and into our hands, so I propose a simple plan to do so. I call it the Re-Stimulaton Plan:

Re-Stimulation Plan extract Wrote:
Under times of war, modular stations that are run by corporate entities in Bretonia will be required to pay a flat rate tax, dependent on the tax factors, alongside a small income tax on the profits that the station makes, if it were to succeed a threshold of 250 million credits per month...

...the tax factors include:
  • Current inflation rate
  • Scale or desperation of war
  • Current gross income for the corporation
  • Current gross income for the station.

I wholeheartedly believe that by implementing this tax system, Bretonia can look forward to recovering from the internal crises that she finds herself in, which will then allow her to fend off her enemies. This idea also means that the station does not need to be taken down and still has the possibility to profit generously. It's really a win - win situation.

I do hope you take the time to consider this proposal and the current economic situation in Bretonia.

Ollie Tyres,
Bretonian Labor Party Representative.
