Piracy is tough.
NOTHING the trader does excuses the pirate breaking the server rules.
Regarding flying off the "map" : The nav map is a gameplay feature and is completely meaningless in terms of roleplay. Outer space is limitless for all practical purposes, and if someone wants to use all that space in order to escape a pirate, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. If the pirate doesn't stop the trader, then he has no legitimate cause to complain about anything that the trader does to escape.
It only wastes your time if you are willing to follow him. It takes two willing people for anyone's time to be wasted. The only thing that is wrong is a pirate whining about traders who escape him. It is a trader's primary role to avoid/escape pirates. Anything that they do that accomplishes that without breaking the server rules is justified, legitimate and well within their rights.
If the pirate doesn't forcibly stop the trader, he shouldn't be a crybaby about whatever the pirate does to escape. It isn't the trader's job to make sure that the pirate doesn't feel like a frustrated failure.
Instead of whining on the forums about how hard piracy is, some pirates just need to find a new occupation.
