I would like to take this opportunity to say how disappointed I am with the comments that you have made with regard to the leadership of the Benitez.
I would like to address a number of the points that you have made in an effort to clear up the obvious misconceptions and misunderstandings that you have of the workings of the Benitez..
First and foremost, Carlos is the voice of the Benitez. Decisions are reached in a relatively democratic fashion through the use of the Benitez private comms channel. Things are asked openly and discussed openly within the Benitez. Ideas are discussed and opinions formed. Once there is a general consensus then we ask Carlos to take that opinion to the rest of the Corsair world.
I would be a liar if I said that things were always unanimous as they are often not, but the majority view is the one that is relayed to the outside. Therefore, whether you realise it or not, you have successfully insulted and alienated all of the Benitez with your continued assertion that the ordinary members of the Benitez have no say or influence.
There have been a number of occasions where Carlos has been required to speak on behalf of the Benitez and to argue things that he does not wholeheartedly agree with. He has done this in a competent fashion (in my view) and the Benitez unanimously thank him for his efforts.
This is not something that is typical of a dictatorship Im sure you will agree?
I would like to question your statement in which you have said that a Dictatorship would not allow any opposition. This is absolutely not the case, and there are a number of historical examples of Dictators allowing opposition to exist simply to keep a population quiet and to deflect them from feeling as though there is no choice. (\\oorp there is or course an example of this currently taking place in Zimbabwe). Perhaps the Benitez are being used as the alternative to the TBH? I will make no comments as to the truth of this. Each of you has to look at themselves in the mirror each morning, and only you will know the truth.
Do all Corsairs feel that Corsair Council is made up fairly? In effect (as far as I know) all the members are drawn from the ranks of the TBH with the exception of 2 (1 each from OPG and Benitez). I would like to know in what way this can be considered fair. As I understand it there is a ruling that only one member from any given family can sit on council at any one time? Since the Benitez are a family only in the sense of a crime family (\\oorp such as the Mafia), as opposed to a genetically linked family then there is actually no reason what so ever that any number of Benitez members cannot sit on the Council is there?
Also if the Council is a fair representation of the Corsairs where are all the Independents? Why are there not more members of the OPG? (By your own rules there should be since they are not all of a single family no matter how you define the word family). Why are there only TBH, OPG and Benitez? If I were an Independent I would not see it as fair I would see it as an exclusive club for the big boys.
(\\oorp For the Council to be fair then it should be formed away from the RP aspects of Disco, and the RP made to fit afterwards. The RP doesnt fit this, and the continued insistence that there can only be one member from each family gives the appearance that the TBH are hiding behind this RP excuse to retain domination of the Council please note that I have used the word appearance as I do not know it to be a fact)
Something that strikes me as very curious in respect of your entire communication is the fact that you continue to say we allowed you to do this and let you do that.
In the first instance you allowed us to do nothing. We made a choice to do a number of things rightly or wrongly, but without any direct influence from the TBH. However, if you wish to believe that you allowed us to do something then I offer you my thanks, and we can all now maintain this illusion.
Earlier on I noticed a post from an Independent concerning whether or not he should be expected to take orders from a member of the great houses. As a spokesperson for one of the great houses, can I ask what your view on this would be? Should an Independent be expected to take orders from the TBH (Benitez or OPG)? Why should he?
It would be a brave thing if you were to apologise to Carlos for making the suggestion that he is a Dictator, as the testament of others demonstrates this not to be the case.
It is a great shame that yet again we have found ourselves in this position.
