My first patrol as a Flieger began at Battleship Strausberg in New Berlin. Due to the low levels of traffic, I planned a long route to cover as much of house space as possible.
The plan was New Berlin > Frankfurt > Munich > Frankfurt > New Berlin > Stuttgart > Koeln > Stuttgart > New Berlin > Braunschweig > Hamburg > New Berlin. It was cut short however, as I will explain.
Much of the beginning of the patrol was uneventful. A few rookie Red Hessian, LWB, Unioner, and Bundschuh pilots tried to engage me in the New Berlin and Frankfurt systems. None of them were ever a real threat to me and I managed to take them all alive.
During the last leg of the patrol, I was in the Hamburg system planning to drop off my load of captured escape pods at Vierlande Prison before finishing my patrol. Just outside of Planet Hamburg I ran into a Junker Pirate Train with the call-sign "I.Might.Be.A.Smuggler". Due to the, *eh-hem*, subtlety of his name. I ordered him to stop and preceded to scan his cargo. It was full of Alien Artifacts [evidence attached]. I informed the smuggler that Alien Artifacts are forbidden in Rheinland Space. At first he protested, claiming that he was not going to sell them in Rheinland and how they were just trinkets. I informed him that even the transport of artifacts through Rheinland space is illegal and the law is firm in that area. I ordered him to jettison his cargo for destruction. He complied and I destroyed all the artifacts.
Because he cooperated willingly I decided to let him off with a warning. I would not fine him this time, however, if he was caught in Rheinland space again with contraband he would fined to the fullest extent of the law.
I was planning on compiling more evidence of this encounter, but just then I received a last minute warning that an ion storm was quickly approaching. I immediately docked at Planet Hamburg and advised the Junker that he should find a base as well.
I am now back on my home planet, I'm going to wait until the ion storm passes then bring the captured pilots to Vierlande Prison.
Since those criminals are safely in my hold, I think I'll wait the storm out in the local beer garden. The first round of Rheinbiers are on me!
