It seems more like a shortcut to get a PoB near a Platinum ore field, more than anything else. There is no mineable gas or anything near that PoB afaik, like your name suggests. I guess it is not wrong to expect a bit more in terms of "quality RP" from a faction contending for officialdom. As of now, I can't think of any reason as to why a GMG faction, out of all factions, would want to invest in a PoB far from their area of interest. errr...well, what plans do you have for that PoB if at all you get it?
