Its currently the only example I'm aware of where a group goes and does something that they couldn't do before, much like this situation.

GMG has the equipment to mine and refine He-3 and Helium and to make fuel, however, lore wise and inRP , they are not suppose to have equipment for solid matterial .. unless they want to store ores in gas tanks ... yea sure ...
So since this is an RP server, unless they'd RP it out right, it's just straight powergaming to get something that can make credits for them.
How is it powergaming if they don't even own the station yet? Also they can trade and mine H-3, which has better and higher selling points than Platinum.

While granted I'll give you that someone drilling an oil well isn't going to be the same person who is mining for copper, their company can own both the person who is mining copper and drilling for oil. I still believe that this whole situation falls under the preview of vertical integration.
Further more by arguing that the station isn't going to be used in its intended manner I'd like to point out the number of the various stations around the sector that were built with one purpose in mind but ended up pulling double duty or even moving away entirely from their stated purpose.
