... While I am sure some people would rejoice, that would be detrimental to the hundreds of hours put in by various devs as well as various gallic factions. It is big, it is threatening, it seems to be victorious at every turn. The good guys have to fight harder and improvise with all their might, snatching victory from the hands of defeat at the last, most implausible hour. And that victory will be sweet.
Plus:
Gallic start points need to be moved to Leeds instead of Anjou, to facilitate quick participation in engagements. The plot needs to keep moving forward.
I have to admit I am playing in almost all houses, with the exeption of Gallia. Let me first talk about the Gallia starting point. I like them, this is the roleplay server and it makes sense to NOT put them near other nations just to generate more friction or meetings between members of different houses. You start at the home system of the fraction you join, that makes sense from my point of view.
Regarding the "hundrets of hours put in by various devs as well as various gallic factions", well there are a lot more hours spent by members of the other houses, that are a lot smaler than Gallia. Just look at the number af fractions and posts on the forum and compate... That can't be the reason. In my opinion - please note that this is my opinion and don't take it as an insult or attack or some hidden agenda, people here seem to be really suspicious - there is something wrong with the way Gallia is built. If there is no activity - of which there is quite few - one needs to look why. Well for one thing the gallic system are really big, and quite beautiful, the ships are good, so there is nothing wrong there. But there is no - at least apperent to players or at least new players - reason to go there. Perhaps if you make a new minable commodity like Oil which is needed for all gallic ships after all and make it as profitable as other ore and as quickly minable - wich detered me from playing in Gallia after visiting all mining fields and being serverily disapointed. Also Kusari is like a vassal and Gallia it's liege. Gallia uses it for ressources people before me said. Well how about creating friction between them because Gallia uses Kusari resources and probably doesn't pay well or at all? What about creating transport trains that bring raw materials into gallia with a heavy escort? That would make police and pirating interesting there.
