Kids flying spaceship's maybe could work if there's proper RP for them, maybe something like having hijacked a ship to run away from someone else, or being trainees, or even the young corsair story.
But Yeah, 14 YO commanding battleships is... weird, unless they're an AI uploaded into a body or something weird, but still really unlikely, and that's a though from someone whose main's a 15 year old running around with so many missiles and torpedoes he looks like an Ace Combat wannabe.
