Vaelin motioned for her to follow along, despite her request to be taken to get food he would instead take her to her accommodation. As they walked along their passage was lit by the surveillance strips, they passed through some security access points she’d not have access to before getting into the ‘haven’ part of the ship. He motioned to the pad at the door.
“Place your thumb on the door frame, it will take a DNA sample and then enter in a pin code, this will be your room and the only other person that will have access to it is myself for obvious reasons. You are quite flattering about this.... situation. The simplicity is based on the sole reason that this is a military ship. If I am your idea of an amazing and secretive men, then I can only guess you’ve met people that have over shared and are more prone to selfish pursuits. We have shared a common hardship and for this reason alone is why I allow you onto this vessel and even seek a safe haven here. Just as you ask me to not betray your trust do not betray mine. I would only seek to act against it if given ample reason. “
He gave her time to digest his words. He played with the device mounted on his left forearm arranging for food to be brought to them, unlike most places he did not supply synth paste but instead organic produce which was often kept in a special preservation area. Oxygen and various other things were produced internally via a ‘greenhouse’ that was located in the observation dome of the Osiris where the command bridge use to be. A facility that had previously been moved to a more internal part of the ship.
“There isn’t a rational way I could really put this but between Toledo, which is now destroyed and this place.... its the only two places I felt safe and as to what was my home. This vessel has about as much history within space as I do. I have plans for the future and a person such as me needs something that's quite – durable for the long times ahead. Trust and faith are two things I hardly process and this vessel ensures my freedom at this stage.”
Food would arrive and as it did he would head for the door. It wasn’t a five star meal but it was a full meal at that with purified water to boot. Vaelin sought to give her time to explore the room and its features while he would wait within the ships ‘lounge’.
