EDIT - Is it safe enough now for us to go ahead and start fixing things via this method?

Confirmation about this from the wizards of the forums would be good. Losing any recovered and reposted stuff again for any reason would be really, really annoying.

Also advice for everyone - the method Jarl presented (kudos to him by the way) also partially works for threads which were not lost all, but some posts were. Just copy the url of the thread and hope google cached the posts so you can retrieve the text.

To recover at least parts of lost threads, members can try the following to find cached versions.

1. Go to your History.
2. Find the link to the thread.
3. Copy-Paste thread to Google Search.
4. The link that pops up will have in green text the web link and a green arrow pointing down next to it. Click that arrow and select "Cached"
5. Save whatever you can find!!

And by the way big kudos to Alley and everyone else who dedicated time and effort to fix the situation as soon as possible.
