In terms of being able to attack targets, the XA ID offers the most flexibility of them all, where even transports where not safe from being treated as combat targets. I'm sure if any of us had been able to fly a roll of duct tape, we would have.

Don't get me wrong: it's not about civtech being anyhow underpowered nor being outnumbered is a huge problem, it's about having heavily restricted docking rights and overall geotactic00l possibilities. Duct tape-talks would better fit nomad/LR tech ;-)
Transports are not of any competition in terms of combat.
