Except the people who are working on the game aren't just some random guy off the street. A lot of them have worked on games in the past, including the original team that formed when they announced the project. Hell, Chris Roberts himself worked on Starlancer, Freelancer, and many other space sims as well as other types of projects. He isn't new to this.
I don't know why you keep bringing up other games. Yes, some games take decades to make. Some take only a year or two. It's not even worth bringing up as it's apples to oranges. You're missing what I am saying as well. They are missing deadlines. I'm not talking when it actually releases, I'm talking the time when they have promised the different modules and alpha/beta versions of the game. They have never met any of those.
I'm also not going to praise them for "relatively realistic physics" because that comes from the engine they didn't even have to develop. The engine choice hardly makes sense, as it doesn't allow the open world they wanted, and have issues having more than 16 people in one instance (like I already said).
