Same here. I usually chill on my Junker for random interactions, no matter if piracy or not (I had a pretty unexpected flight with The Congress, which was damn funny). But then, take into account that it cannot be "too hard". Pirates are to extort traders, traders are to earn money. I can relate to both, because I'm doing both and, depending on the situation however, traders have it easier.
On the other hand, we aren't EVE Online with thousands of players, so it might be hard to look for interaction in these 100 systems with barely 70 players online... If piracy gets too hard for pirates, they simply don't log. There are no interactions. And then, trading gets boring - and if trading gets boring, less people log traders. And if less traders are in the game, there's nothing to do for pirates. And so on, and so on.
