You know what is driving this so-called 'censorship' has nothing to do with 'morals' or 'standards' - it has to do with class. It has to do with respect. It has to do with dignity.

Have you heard people argue when they have to control their language - say a business or institutional setting?
It tends to be generally respectful, but more importantly it tends to result in, well, results.
Why?
Because curses tend to act like barbs or darts - they draw blood and raise the ire of whomever you aim them at.
Their use in group settings also steals the dignity of the person wielding them as much as the person they are aimed at.
And you can get by just fine without them - their prohibition is not hindering your ability to RP.

Spend some time in other gaming communities, and you'll see how people figuratively piss all over each other, punctuated by curses and other shout-downs.
We're not immune from that here but anyone who he spent any appreciable time in a non-restricted gaming community has probably seen more arguments devolve into the cesspool - while in language-restricted communities there tends to be more respectful interaction between players - on the whole.

This community, as has been stated previously, while it has rotten fruit, is more or less respectful and dignified - again, there are always exceptions, but on the whole we're a pretty good bunch.
Ask yourself if this would continue to hold true if the language rules were removed.

In the end, having been here since '08 and knowing lots of mods/devs/admins over the years, I've heard enough from those that enforce and drive the rules that I get it.
Sure you could loosen the rules for in-character speech and RP (and frankly, to some degree they do) but where does it end?
Where's the line between IC and OOC? - cause it's not black and white.
And if I'm an admin, I'd just as soon see everyone meeting the same level of respect - and make sure that while you can insult someone, you can't steal their dignity by saying that they do 'sexual things' to goats, or the like.

If you absolutely have to cuss - go elsewhere and let it rip.
If controlling your language is so hard - or so demeaning to you - You have issues that a rule change ain't gonna fix.
