The Corvo isnt a combat oriented ship. Its a civilian explorer. Its used to explore, and has the equipment suited to survive.
EDIT: I would however be in favor of a second heavy slot on top of the turret count it already has.
Currently unable to consistently be present in the Community due to life constraints.
