I very much like that idea. If you want scrap in the economy maybe make it like with the cardamine?

So in this case, "nooblets", as spazzy calls them, would mine and bring it to the base. Then you can buy "Sorted Scrapmetal"(Or however a native english speaker would call them) on stations with mining around them and you can deliver that to wherver you see it being the most fitting. Or like with Helium. Deliver it to the station closer or to a station that uses that stuff.
