Unione Corse Piracy

Hello everyone.

I've been curious to play a member of the Unione Corse for a while now, and as of recently I have actually rolled a character for the purposes of doing so. I'm not entirely sure how the piracy on their ID interacts with their IC diplomacy, though, considering that most potential targets seem to be people that they either would suffer negatively for pirating (Gallic corporations, miners, house militaries/police, potential smuggling allies) or people that they simply wouldn't want to pirate.

This isn't meant to be a criticism of the ID by any stretch. I just want to understand the faction better, and reading about it on the wiki hasn't cleared things up for me very much. I understand that the UC is not really a majorly antagonistic pirate faction, given that their branch of crime seems to deal more with smuggling, the black market, extortion and the like. I've also been told that the UC functions better as more of a bounty hunting faction, which to me seems to defeat the purpose somewhat of having piracy on the ID at all, but that's why I'm asking for more information, because it feels like I'm missing some major IC information, rather than there being any flaw.

If anyone that knows more about Gallic lore can weigh in on this, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.
