Is there a maximum amount that's considered reasonable to pirate a trader for? If so, is it a set limit or a percentage?
I've heard of pirate transports pirating 5k ore haulers and demanding to be filled up - that's over half (2800).
I know there are no hard and fast rules, but I also know there's a point at which the "ruining other player's game" rule comes into play and the Admins step in.
Thoughts, experience?
Cheers.
I think it depends entirely on the circumstances and relevant relationships. I wouldn't expect the Farmers Alliance or LWB to allow a cargo of synth paste to pass by without being fully destroyed, nor Gaians and Gaian Wildlife. There are plenty of other examples. However, an Outcast demanding destruction of an entire load of pearls makes no sense (I'm not pointing fingers, just making up examples here). If there is not some sort of deep ideological interest involved, then people on both sides should be reasonable. I was never a fan of a certain pirate of years past who demanded that a trader drop and then shoot his own cargo, just because the pirate was supposedly a whackjob. As far as I'm concerned, you shouldn't be able to just declare yourself a maniac and therefore exempt yourself from the reasonable standards everyone else is expected to follow. But if there is an ideological issue involved, then everyone should acknowledge and follow it. It's not like there aren't plenty of non-ideologically tied commodities and factions to trade with.
