i'm a bit curious about the bolded statement as i use 8.1 on my laptop and it runs and works like a better version of 7. I have mine immediately proceed to desktop after login when i reboot, so i dont ever touch the tiles section. I'm not sure why you'd need something like classic shell when using 8.1 on a standard desktop or laptop.
