I address the message to Skyelius, as well as to all my brother and sister Corsairs. Skyelius, you are a corsair of singular skill and bravery, many of our enemies have fallen under your guns, and your exploits have filled the coffers of Crete, and helped feed our multitudes, of that you should be proud.

Let me though speak of some of the things you have said, i offer a different perspective.
You speak of the honour of our enemies, the outcasts - and yes indeed, they do have a certain martial pride about them. One cannot help but acknowledge their skill. But never forget who they are - while it is honorable to meet them on equal terms - these people are our enemies. They stand against us at each turn, they thwart us at each step and while they might not have asked to land on a cardamine covered rock they now use that same cardamine to subvert and control, rendering whole people's into addiction and servitude until they are mindless Outcast puppets - where is the honour in that?
They ally with our enemies when and where they can until now we stand surrounded by foes with no real allies of our own to speak of... and where is the honour in that? It is quite easy to demand you be met "equally" when half of Sirius supports you against a people vastly outnumbered.

What you speak of is martial pride and martial honour. I myself captain a gunboat and a Cruiser. I will stand ready to aid any Corsair who requires it. Though i will not interfere in a battle of honour, i will offer my assistance, but my brothers and sisters need not accept it. I feel that many of our new captains are headstrong however, they seek their own glory and they do not see a bigger picture.
There is no shame in this in itself, it is the right of every Corsair to better themselves and achieve what they may, though all Corsairs should as you say, be aware of the plight of their own people. If you choose to spend your fortune on a mighty vessel of war, then that is your choice, but how do you use that to benefit our people?, how do you use that to help those who have no fortune to spend and who cannot take to the stars? This is what our brothers and sisters need to be reminded of.

For myself? I have it within my influence to have goods of necessity brought to Crete by certain parties, and so it is done. Many a time have i flown the Xibanya Nuren to Yanagi, and returned with her hold filled with food and supplies, it is the least i can do.

But i will say this to all of you. You of the Brotherhood, of the Benitez family, you of the OPG. You owe your allegiances to your families yes, but you are, first and foremost Corsairs. Never forget this.
And those hotheaded irreverent Captains and commanders whose presence you find so objectionable are also Corsairs. Do not forget this.
IF you owe a greater allegiance to your house than you do your people then i believe you have lost your way.

I say to you if you raise your hands against your brothers and sisters, if you fire upon them then you are not only dishonouring yourself, you dishonour all corsairs. It is the mark of true wisdom and honour that a man persuades his brothers with words, with reason, and finally with passion. Your kin are that by blood, by name and by honour - and while you may object to what they do, and how they do it, unsheathing your sword upon those who are your own by blood....

This is a fools way, and it is a path to all our destructions.

I will never fire upon another who calls themselves Corsair, nor will i abide, sanction or comply with any directive that compels Corsairs to do so. We are at war, we stand almost alone against a multitude of enemies pitted against us and now., more than ever is the time for unity.
